About Dr Kate Broderick, BSc, JD, DNM, Dip Acu

Hello! Thank you for coming to visit our website and looking into our offerings of services to improve your health and well being. I’m glad you’re here! I’m Kate Broderick, and I’m a naturopathic doctor and acupuncturist. I received my Doctorate degree in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University and my Diploma of Acupuncture from the Wu Hsing Tao School, both in Seattle, Washington, USA. Since moving to Australia, I have become a fully qualified member of the Naturopaths and Herbalists Association of Australia, and I have been registered as an acupuncturist (currently non-practicing) by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Before moving to Seattle to become a naturopathic doctor, I was an attorney in Texas, where I was born and raised. In 1995, I started practicing yoga, and soon thereafter, started studying nutrition and

fitness in my spare time, because I was interested in improving my own health. Over the next few years, I found out just how powerful one’s diet and lifestyle can be in determining wellness and quality of life. During that time, I recovered from a severe back injury and surgery, lost a great deal of weight, got very fit, and rid myself of a number of chronic health issues, including repetitive sinus infections, irritable bowel syndrome, and adult acne, all through specific dietary changes, yoga and other moderate exercise, and Ayurvedic (an ancient Indian form of medicine) therapies. My healing journey didn’t end there, but that’s a story for another time . . .

As I was feeling better and better, it seemed that everyone around me was getting sicker and sicker, everything from cancers to asthma to thyroid disease to anxiety and depression. I couldn’t stop wondering “why are we all so sick?”, so I went forward to change my career with the goal of helping to reverse that trend. I believe that we all have the power within us to find the causes of our illnesses and why we simply don’t feel well as we move through our lives, and to make changes that will allow our bodies, minds and spirits, to function optimally, to be well, and to feel well.

Aside from private practice, I have also worked in academia in natural health. Whilst in practice in Seattle, I was an Adjunct Faculty member at Bastyr University and its teaching clinic, the Bastyr Center for Natural Health. Since coming to Australia in 2013, I have held positions as the Program Leader of Naturopathic Medicine and the Director of Education for six campuses nationally comprising Endeavour College of Natural Health. I left full-time academia to return to private practice, teaching and clinical supervision in 2016, and in 2020, I shifted my career focus into full-time clinical practice and patient education.

Mine is a general practice in naturopathy, but my particular passion is helping those with chronic illnesses such as autoimmune diseases, chronic fatigue, chronic digestive issues, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, inflammatory conditions, or hormonal dysfunction. My goal is to help you find your path to true and lasting healing so that you can get the very most out of your life. If you’d like to make an appointment to explore how we can work together as partners to get you feeling better, living better, and being the most true and shining version of you that’s possible, please jump over to the Home page for details on booking an appointment.
